Twitch Drops Are Fine, But Why Lock Berserk Behind Subs?
Hey folks,
So I just saw that Blizzard’s doing a Berserk collab in Diablo 4 items—massive news! I mean, Guts is practically a Diablo character already. But what’s got everyone talking isn’t the drop—it’s the catch.
To get the Twitch Drop, you have to watch 4 hours of partnered streamers, and gift 2 subscriptions. Not receive. Gift. That’s real-world cash, not in-game effort.
Now look—I’m not totally against Twitch Drops. They’re fun, build community, and support streamers. But exclusive content from a legendary manga/anime like Berserk shouldn’t be locked behind a pay gate. That’s the kind of crossover that should be in the Battle Pass or in-game event—not tied to your wallet.
It makes me wonder if this is the start of a new trend: Blizzard testing how much fans will pay for cool IP collabs. If it works, what’s next? Neon Genesis skin in Overwatch? But only if you buy 5 Twitch subs?
On the flip side, I do see the logic. It boosts Twitch engagement and helps smaller streamers. Still, I wish it were more balanced—like earn it or buy it, not just buy diablo 4 items it.
Are you going for the drop? Or skipping it on principle?
Let’s discuss!
